R = Required, O = Optional, S=Suggested, L=Leaders Exclusive Required

Basics

1. R - Amateur Radio license - Technician

2. S - General or Amateur Extra license

3. O - GMRS license

Equipment:

1. R - Operational VHF/UHF transceiver

2. S - Mobile unit mounted in vehicle (VHF/UHF)

3. O - HF unit

4. S - Backup/secondary transceivers

5. S - Backup batteries for handheld transceivers

5. S - Emergency power pack(s) for charging batteries

6. S - Portable solar charging power for transceiver operations

7. O - Gasoline powered generator for emergency power operations

8. O - Fuel and oil, spare filters for generators, with necessary cords, grounding equipment

Experience:

1. L - Participate a minimum of 2 times monthly with weekly stake nets

Training:

1. L - Run stake net-control at least once quarterly

2. S - SKYWARN training online, attend a class, get certified "Spotter Number" with National Weather Service (NWS)

What is ERC?

ERC is stands for Emergency Response Communications. It is the Church's communication system in a disaster when all other forms of communication are cut off. It consists mostly of church volunteers who have their own radios and are licensed, and who practice communications with us in preparation for an emergency. It is a part of the Church's Welfare Services, presided over by the Church Welfare Services Committee, which is presided over by the Presiding Bishopric, but is administered at the Stake Level by the Stake President.

American Legion Post 113 - Meridian, ID - https://americanlegionpost113.com/ham-club/ - Regular monthly meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month beginning at 1900 in the Veterans Memorial Building, 22 W. Broadway, Meridian. The N7LGN Club Net is held weekly on Wednesday evenings at 1900. Rx 146.940, (-) Tx 146.340, PL 100. Many thanks to Larry Smith W7ZRQ and the ISRA for making this possible by letting us use their repeater. The club also has an active UHF Fusion repeater located at the Post home at a frequency of 443.000 Mhz (+) with a PL 100 Mhz tone and a 026 DTS code.
